Liga Privada is Drew Estate's ultra-premium marque—launched in 2007 after exhaustive blend development and partnerships with Connecticut River Valley broadleaf growers. What began as a private, limited release for friends became a category-defining line when enthusiasts demanded access to cigars rolled with stalk-cut, stalk-cured Connecticut wrapper leaf and long-fermented filler tobaccos aged 18 to 36 months.
Each Liga Privada is handmade in a dedicated room at La Gran Fábrica Drew Estate in Estelí by a small team of the factory's most experienced buncheros and rolleras. Core expressions include No. 9 (Mexican San Andrés power), T52 (stalk-cut Connecticut habano grit), H99 (hybrid-wrapper sophistication), 10 Aniversario, the rare Unico Serie micro-blends, and Papas Fritas—a shorter format built from trimmings of the flagship lines. Jonathan Drew calls Unico vitolas "one-of-a-kind truths" outside the core No. 9 / T52 / H99 families.
Liga's development drew on Drew Estate's deepest bench: Steve Saka helped shape early blending direction during his executive tenure, while Nick Melillo oversaw production on the factory floor before both went on to found Dunbarton and Foundation. On the map, Liga Privada connects Drew's industrial Estelí flagship to the alumni who helped make it a modern cult brand.
