"Island Jim" Robinson is a Pittsburgh cigar retailer and brand owner who runs Leaf & Bean Strip District—one of the city's most distinctive cigar lounges. Eddie Ortega gave him the nickname "Island Jim" for his tropical shirts and Key West days, long before he left a Marriott hospitality career to return home and build a cigar life around community, travel, and Honduran factory partnerships.
Robinson created Leaf by Oscar as a house cigar that helped launch Oscar Valladares's Danlí operation and eventually reached nearly a thousand retail doors. He followed with his own Island Jim line—No. 2, Connecticut No. 2, Barber Pole, and related releases—rolled at La Flor de Copán. After meeting Nicholas Syris in Cuba, he co-branded the Nick & Jim line—originally slated as Lavida Isla—as a house blend that went national. He also appeared in Ortega's Wild Bunch series, embodying the same generous, road-worn spirit aficionados know from his signature yellow sunglasses and ever-present "wahoo" greeting.
