Hoyo de Monterrey (Non-Cuban)

brandcorporateHonduras

Hoyo de Monterrey (Non-Cuban) is the U.S. marca owned by General Cigar / Scandinavian Tobacco Group, not Habanos S.A.'s Cuban Hoyo. After the Revolution, Fernando Palicio sold U.S. rights to Villazon (Dan Blumenthal and Frank Llaneza). Production moved to Honduras in the mid-1960s, among the first Cuban names rebuilt outside the island for American shops. General bought Villazon in 1997 and still holds Hoyo on the General side of the STG split (with Macanudo and CAO), while Punch, the old Villazon sibling, has been sold through Forged in recent shuffles.

Honduras remains the brand's U.S. identity. Core and refreshed lines such as Excalibur, Hoyo de Tradición, Epicure Selección, Rojo, and Oscuro are tied to STG's Danlí (HATSA) factory. General has also used A.J. Fernandez for Hoyo La Amistad Dark Sumatra, so the graph includes an Estelí collaboration edge without turning Hoyo into a Nicaraguan-only story. Cuban Hoyo (Epicure No. 2 lore, and the rest) does not appear on this map.

On Cigar Nexus, Hoyo (NC) sits with Punch (NC) as the Villazon-into-General Honduran pair, opposite Altadis names (Montecristo, Romeo, H. Upmann) and still inside STG, not Imperial.
