Bolivar (Non-Cuban) is the U.S. Bolivar sold by Forged Cigar Co., inside Scandinavian Tobacco Group. It is not the Cuban Bolivar of Habanos S.A. General Cigar has held the U.S. trademark for decades, in the same Cifuentes-name family as Partagas (Non-Cuban). The cigar on shelves now is Honduran. Forged has sold it since February 2021, and it stayed with Forged in the February 2026 portfolio shuffle.
Who makes it? STG Danlí (HATSA) in Honduras, the same factory floor as much of non-Cuban Hoyo de Monterrey. The line people still buy is Cofradia. The natural uses an Ecuador Sumatra wrapper, a Connecticut binder, and Honduran and Nicaraguan filler. Cofradia Oscuro uses a Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper and an Ecuador Sumatra binder. General relaunched the marca in 2005 and credited Daniel Núñez, Benji Menendez, Estelo Padrón (brother of José Orlando Padrón, and longtime HATSA manager), and Ernesto Perez-Carrillo, who was still at General then. In late 2024 STG dropped the regular Bolivar line and kept Cofradia and Gran Republica.
