EO Brands was the partnership between Erik Espinosa and Eddie Ortega that launched two of the most influential Nicaraguan brand lines of the 2000s: 601 and Murciélago. Operating under the United Tobacco banner, EO Brands helped define the bold, full-bodied Estelí profile that would become the template for an entire generation of boutique cigars.
The partnership dissolved around 2012, with Espinosa going independent to found Espinosa Premium Cigars and La Zona while Ortega pursued separate projects. EO Brands remains a legacy node on the map—marking the origin point of lines that continue to thrive under Espinosa's leadership and illustrating how creative partnerships (and their endings) have shaped the modern Nicaraguan manufacturing landscape.
