Mayflower Cigars is the premium handmade brand launched in November 2023 by Michael Knowles, host of The Michael Knowles Show at The Daily Wire. The name is personal history, not a marketing gimmick: four of Knowles's ancestors sailed on the Mayflower in 1620, and the brand presents itself as the culmination of a lifelong cigar habit that started with a family friend's machine-made Cuban, free sticks from rollers on Arthur Avenue in the Bronx, and a final Christmas gift of robustos from his mother. In Knowles's own telling, that same maternal gift box was made at the factory that now rolls Mayflower, Oliva Cigar Co.'s Estelí operation.
Production is at Tabolisa in Estelí, the same floor behind Oliva Serie V, Melanio, NUB, and Cain. Knowles worked with Oliva designers on the blends; early trade coverage described the cigars as handmade in Knowles's preferred Nicaraguan factory, with logistics and DTC fulfillment through Brandshopper (parent of Cigarpage) and mayflowercigars.com. The core portfolio is built as a day-to-night arc: Dawn (mild to medium; Ecuador Connecticut wrapper, Cameroon binder, Nicaraguan long fillers), Dusk (medium to full; Ecuador Habano wrapper, Sumatra binder, Nicaraguan fillers), and Dream (double maduro; Pennsylvania Broadleaf wrapper, Mexican San Andrés binder, Nicaraguan filler, with notes the brand describes as chicory, cardamom, oak, and caramel). Limited Dawn of America (2026) reworks the Dawn recipe for the U.S. 250th anniversary with a seven-year-aged U.S. Connecticut shade wrapper over the same Cameroon/Nicaragua stack, sold in tubes of ten with a secondary band quoting the Constitution's "to ourselves and our posterity."
On the map, Mayflower is a clean contract-manufacturing story: a media-led brand identity, American heritage branding, and Estelí execution at industrial scale, without factory ownership. It sits on Oliva's Tabolisa node the way many outside projects do, but with an unusually public origin story (Daily Wire culture, college "SIGAR" club, cigar-review column, and the Pilgrim ancestry that named the marca). For enthusiasts tracing who actually rolls celebrity and media brands, Mayflower points straight to one of Nicaragua's largest vertically integrated floors rather than an anonymous Estelí address.
