Karen Berger is the owner and leader of Karen Berger Cigars, a vertically integrated operation in Estelí where she grows, ferments, and rolls cigars at her own Tabacalera Estelí facility. She began rolling cigars in Estelí at age 18 and built the company as a family tribute to her late husband Enrique "Don Kiki" Berger—combining agricultural control with hands-on blending in one of the industry's more intimate owner-operator models.

Berger's story reflects the independent, farm-to-cigar ambition that continues to attract new players to Nicaragua's cigar capital. Rather than relying on third-party factories, she invested in owning the full pipeline—from tobacco fields to rolling floor—ensuring that every cigar bearing her name reflects a personal standard honed over decades in Estelí. Karen Berger Cigars may not have the fame of Padrón or Plasencia, but it embodies the grassroots craftsmanship that keeps the ecosystem diverse.
